Free Topic

Hello, I hope everyone is having a good day!

Today is the last blog and it's a free topic, so I'm going to talk about the country I would like to go to.

One of the countries I would like to visit is Ecuador, one of my friends is from there and she told me that it is a country with beautiful landscapes and it has different climates (like tropical or dry for example). This country is known by the equator line, but it is not known if the country is named after the line or the line is named after the country. It is a mystery.

I would like to go to a particular city called Guayaquil. This city is known for having iguanas running free in the streets and everywhere. Which is super peculiar and fun to see.

Another interesting thing about this country is that in the eastern part of Ecuador is the Amazon and it also has the Galapagos Islands as part of its territory. This make it a very diverse country in its flora and fauna.

Personally, I would like to go on a summer vacation to have new life experiences and meet new people.

That's all for today, thanks for reading.

Thank you for joining me in this learning process, bye.

Education

Hello everyone, hoping everyone is having a great day, today I am going to talk about private schools in Chile.

First of all I have to say that I have never been in a private school in my entire educational process, but that has not meant a limitation to get ahead and emerge in life. Well, I will try to answer the following question:

Do private schools offer higher quality education or are they just prestigious?

It is a fact that private education offers a better education in terms of preparation for university entrance, where its students achieve the best scores and therefore have a better chance of entering higher education.

https://www.24horas.cl/admision-educacion-superior/conoce-los-100-mejores-colegios-segun-los-resultados-de-la-psu-1883582

This news shows us the 100 best schools according to the results of the PSU (University Selection Test), where the most outstanding establishments are mostly private schools (95/100) and most of them belong to the Metropolitan Region.

https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/2013/06/06/simce-de-ingles-de-los-100-colegios-con-mejor-puntaje-99-son-particulares-pagados.shtml

Here is another news that shows us the result of a Simce English test, where 99 of the 100 schools with the best scores are private schools.

So it is a fact that private education is of quality, but at the same time it is very segregated and unequal, since not everyone has enough money to be able to access it.

But there are also many cases in which students from public schools obtain excellent results thanks to their own efforts. But the idea is to improve education in our country, and that this quality is reflected in most schools in Chile and not only belongs to a more privileged economic sector.

That's all for today, byee :)

Healthcare system

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about the healthcare system and what I think about health service in our country.

Ever since I was a kid I have heard people say that having private health insurance is much better than going through the public health system and I always wondered why.

Why is the health system considered inefficient and frowned upon?

As I grew up I began to understand how the health system worked in Chile and I had to experience firsthand the shortcomings and difficulties of being treated in a public hospital.

I have known of people who have had to wait years to be treated in the public health system, which I consider aberrant because if the disease is not treated promptly, it worsens over time.

I would also like to share with you an experience I had with my family related to healthcare.

It turns out that in 2018 my dad suffered an accident playing soccer, there he broke his tibia and fibula. A friend of my dad's took him to a private clinic where they did an x-ray and the doctor told him that the operation to treat his fracture cost around 5 million Chilean pesos. At that time my dad didn't have the money so he was very worried and the pain was getting worse and worse. But it turned out that there was a possibility and the doctor asked him where he lived. At that time we lived in the commune of Renca and my father told the doctor that. Luckily for my father, it turned out that there was a trauma hospital that served the whole northern area of Santiago and therefore he could be treated by the public system there, and so he was.

My father thanked God that he didn't have to pay anything, but I wonder what would have happened if we didn't live in that area. Surely the story would have been very different and I am sure my father would have been left with a huge debt to pay.

This experience makes it clear to me that if you don't have money or luck like my father did, it's going to be very difficult to get quality health care.

Thanks for reading and see you in the next blog.

Politics

Hello everyone, today I am going to talk about the importance of voting for a democratic country.

The right to vote is one of our most important freedoms as individuals. It ensures that we have a voice and that our voices are heard.

Chile had the opportunity to transform what has long been one of the most conservative countries in Latin America. Where the majority of Chileans voted to replace the old constitution in October 2020.

The vote on Sunday, September 4 to approve or reject the new constitution was a reflection of what society wanted.

But, is what the people wanted the best for the country?

The answer may vary depending on the political sector to which one belongs. However, one thing is clear, and that is that what happened in this plebiscite will serve as an object of study for a new process of change.

If you want to leave your opinion you are free to comment on this post.

See you soon...
